Anthony J. Verachtert, OD, is a residency-trained optometrist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery care. He graduated from Loyola University-Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Following his undergraduate degree, he went on to complete a Doctorate of Optometry and an additional Bachelor of Science of Visual Science from the Illinois College of Optometry. He enhanced his training by completing an additional residency in corneal eye disease and refractive surgery at the Hunkeler Eye Center.
Dedicated to research, Dr. Verachtert has long served as a Clinical Investigator for FDA clinical research studies. His areas of interest include refractive surgery, dry eye and new pharmaceuticals. During his career he has written several scientific articles published in professional medical publications. He has also given numerous presentations for professional organizations throughout the United States.
