Your First Evaluation
We are excited for the opportunity to take care of you and your eye care needs. The information below will help your prepare for your evaluation and understand some of the details regarding the examination. Surgical and ocular disease examinations can require special testing that you may have not have experienced in a more regular yearly eye examination.
Cataract Evaluation +
Bring your completed new patient paperwork, insurance card, and driver's license with you to ensure a shorter wait time.
Contact lenses can warp the front surface of the eye, resulting in innaccurate measurements needed to plan for your cataract surgery. Please be sure to have your contact lenses removed before your appointment if you regularly wear them. Soft lenses need to come out 3 days prior. Hard lenses must be removed 3 weeks prior, as they tend to be more problematic.
Please allow 2 1/2- 3 1/2 hours for the examination, measurements and scheduling of your procedure.
A cataract evaluation will involve a dilated comprehensive eye exam plus additional testing and measurements that are necessary to plan for your surgery. This testing will include Glare testing, IOL Master ultrasound measurements to determine the length of your eye, and an Pentacam corneal curvature mapping.
You will then meet with your doctor to determine if catarct surgery is best for you. If you are ready to schedule cataract surgery you will talk with the surgical coordinator who will go over all of your pre and post-operative appointments and schedule your cataract surgery.
Please review the Advanced Cataract Surgery page under our "Procedures" tab of this website before your appointment. Here you can become familiar with the cataract surgery procedure. There are options to consider when planning your surgery in terms of vision goals and implant options. Reviewing this information before your appointment will help you and your doctor make the best decision for you and your vision goals.

Lasik Evaluation +
Bring your completed new patient paperwork, insurance card, and driver's license with you to ensure a shorter wait time.
Contact lenses can warp the front surface of the eye, resulting in innaccurate measurements needed to plan for your laser vision correction surgery. Prior to your appointment please be sure to have your contact lenses removed. Soft lenses need to come out 3 days prior. Hard lenses must be removed 3 weeks prior to your evaluation if possible, as they tend to be more problematic. If you are unable to remove your hard lenses prior to this appointment, we can proceed with an initial evaluation and will need to repeat some of the measurements after the hard lenses have been removed for an adequate period.
You can expect for your evaluation to be 2 hours long.
The evaluation will be a full comprehensive, dilated exam. During your evaluation you will go through varios testing with a technician including a corneal Pentacam topography.
You will then meet with your doctor to determine if laser vision correction is the best option for you. If there is a surgery option for you, then you will meet with the refractive surgical coordinator who will go over all of your pre and post-operative appointments and schedule your LASIK surgery.
Please review the Laser Vision Correction page under our "Procedures" tab of this website before your appointment. Here you can become familiar with the laser vision correction options. Reviewing this information before your appointment will help you and your doctor make the best decision for you and your vision goals.
If you are a contact lens wearer, having a copy or picture of the contact lens prescription will help your doctor when planning for your surgery.

If you have a cataract it will be discussed as well. You will meet with your surgical coordinator who will go over the diagnosis and procedure, as well as your pre-op and post-op instructions.

A corneal evaluation will encompass everything that our comprehensive eye exam does plus several additional tests: a Pentacam corneal scanning, ultrasound pachymetry, endothelial cell count.
